- DSLR or mirrorless camera
- HDMI cable
- Elgato Cam Link 4K
Webcams have certainly become a lot more powerful the past couple of years, but there’s still an upper limit to have good a webcam can look because of its small lens and portability. If you want to upgrade further than a Logitech Brio or C920, then the next step is to use a DSLR or mirrorless camera.
In order to use your camera as a webcam, you’ll need something to act as an interface or a capture card between the camera and the computer. This is where the Elgato Cam Link comes in. The Cam Link is very compact and connects straight to your computer via USB 3.0, and only requires an HDMI cable connected to your camera to work.
The setup is very simple and you don’t need to install any extra software for it to work. Just open up a software that can use your webcam like Skype, OBS, Discord, Teams, etc, and use it immediately. Make sure to either get a battery eliminator or extra batteries to charge while the camera is being used so you don’t run out of power while recording.
